A Message to DISH Subscribers

DISH is threatening to take FOX6 off your channel lineup, as of Thursday, August 15. If this happens, it’s DISH’s fault, and we want you to know why.

We share your frustration. You have endured DISH’s interruptions in the past, and so have we. Our parent company, Tribune Media, is working diligently to prevent an interruption. We have even offered DISH an extension to continue negotiations, but they have refused, preferring to put your programming in jeopardy.

“We’re extremely disappointed that we do not have an agreement on the renewal of our contract with DISH,” said Gary Weitman, Tribune Media’s senior vice president for corporate relations. “We offered DISH an extension of our current agreement with no increase in rates while we continue to negotiate, and DISH rejected our proposal.  Without an agreement in place, we can’t keep providing you with our top-rated local news, live sports, and high-quality entertainment programming.  DISH subscribers will also lose access to the Fall’s most anticipated original new series, “Dog’s Most Wanted,” premiering on our cable network WGN America September 4.”

You pay DISH to see FOX6, and you should not have to endure an interruption.

1. What’s going on?

FOX6 and DISH must renew the contract that allows the cable company to send our programming to you. FOX6 has presented our proposal for fair value compensation, based on the value our programming brings you here in (market). Thus far, DISH has refused our fair offer and failed to negotiate in a meaningful fashion. As a result, the contract may expire on 8/15, and FOX6 will not be carried on DISH until a new contract is in place.

2. What about the network programming FOX6 carries?

That too. Sports, prime time, morning shows, as well as our local news and our own shows. All our programming will be unavailable until a new contract is agreed.

3. What can I do?

We value your loyalty as a FOX6 viewer, and we feel it’s important to make you aware of this situation. More important, you pay to receive our programming, and it should not be denied to you.

Call DISH at 800-333-3474, remind them that you have options, and demand that DISH keep FOX6 uninterrupted in your cable package.

4. What are my options?

You can receive FOX6 using a good quality digital antenna, and not lose a moment of our shows. You can also explore offers from other providers, and you might find a much better deal – WITHOUT the frequent threats of interruptions you have faced as a DISH customer.
